Fauxdori’s

Now onto other types of notebook/ planner type things. Around the same time I got into filofaxes, I also stumbled across something called the Midori Travelers Notebook (MTN). Really beautiful and simple notebook covers made from leather. A string bound system! So basically you can carry around a number of notebooks at the same time, all in a beautiful package.

I saw some videos of peoples set ups and also of how to make your own. It seems simple enough. So I decided that I was going to attempt to make my own. Leather was hard to come by (and expensive) so I used some think felt and covered it with a cotton material. Punched the holes, attached the elastic strings, and voila! I made an A5 sized one as that size of notebook is more readily available to me than the standard size Midori notebooks are. I also bought a sketch book to go with it. I want to start being more creative and maybe even learn how to draw or paint. I thought it would be a art / scrap journal. I haven’t started using it since school as started. But it’s there waiting for me…

At the same time, I also found a website that was selling a Fauxdori (a MTN style notebook that is not made by the Midori company). This one was made by the German brand Liebeskind, that usually make other type of leather things like wallets, and bags. It was going for 50% off and the only colours left were black and another that they called…”powder” I think. Basically a very pale light pink. Surprisingly I went for the light colour. My plan was to use it as a general “brain dump” which has worked out ok so far.

I don’t have any pics of the insides but will post it up when I do, and show you my set up. Do any of you have a Midori/ Fauxdori? How do you use yours? I love to see how others are using theirs as it’s so inspiring! 🙂

‘Till next time,

P.
