Monthly budget routine

In addition to sharing how I set up my budget and finance section in my planner (see previous post), I also made a video showing the steps I take when I do my financial planning for the following month. To summarise, I basically take a note of my income, gather all the expenses that I think will occur in the coming month and budget to zero. By that I mean that I make sure that every cent is accounted for. I also try to pay myself first by making sure I transfer the amount I want to save to my savings or investment account. On top of that I prioritise adding to my sinking funds which has been a major help in feeling more in control of my expenses in general.

Despite editing, the video but it is on the longer side. It couldn’t be helped as I wanted to show everything that I do. I also don’t cover up anything, so you see my real numbers. If you would like a deeper insight into my process watch the video below.

So there you have it. I’m always interested to know how other people manage their financial lives. Do you have a routine? Is there something that you do that has really been a game changer in reaching your financial goals? Do share and discuss below.

’til next time,

P.
