Week 3 in the pocket

This past week was the first week that I was in the Aston pocket size Filofax.

Pocket Astons. The mushroom colour is sold so I was in the chocolate one.

I had thought that the pen loop and strap being there would get in the way and quickly become annoying. However, this hasn’t seemed to be the case! Getting money and coins in and out of that pocket has been quite easy. So I’m back to using my filofax as a wallet + planner ๐Ÿ™‚

Another change is that I now have only 5 sections instead of 6.

I got rid of my dedicated “to-do section”. I found that I wasn’t using it, especially since I now am using the clear divider tab with post it notes in between my week pages to hold my undated to-do’s (see last weeks post to know what I’m talking about). Although, perhaps I may start to really need it as my final exam is coming up! I may also just get rid of the “information” section as I haven’t actually got any of the stuff in there that I normally would have in my personal size. It may be a mixture of me being to lazy to transfer the information, and also not having to need that information as much as I thought. The dates of the school calendar has been transferred to my normal monthly section which has solved that problem. I have an app for the public transport times so I also don’t really need the paper with the times that the tram leaves from my usual stop.

I like having the A-Z tabs for a notes section. This is something that is new to me and I never had this with my personal sized Filofax. Now I can write notes and if I want to keep them, I just file them away and it’s easy for me to find them again. This week I was writing down a list of foods to eat to help with stomach acid. It’s nice to be able to keep it in my filo and find it easily incase I’m shopping and need reminding of the types of foods I should go for, and what to avoid. I think I will make a similar list for healthy snacks! If I go back into the personal size, I will definitely be incorporating this in my system.

In conclusion, I think I can say that I am getting used to the pocket size. I’m making it work. I still long for the personal size though, but that’s only because I have so many of them. I added two to my collection this week (Regency and Kikki K medium mint) and I really want to try them out! :). But it’s nice to know that if i really need to save space in my bag or something, then I can use a pocket size without too much trouble.

For next week, I think I will get rid of the “information” section all together, and try to make a “project” section to help me with planning out my up coming exams and concerts.

Next week is the last full week of this challenge. I’m hoping that by the end of it, I would have found the best set up for myself in pocket size.

To read about the previous weeks, check out my posts Week 1 and 2 in the pocket. ๐Ÿ™‚

‘Till next time,

P.

  1. Lovely! I don’t see a lot of planneraddicts with pocket sized planners! A pity I think! They are so easy to bring along, aren’t they? Nice post! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Well, so far I like that it is compact. It’s really made me aware of what I need in my planner vs what I think I need ;). However I still miss having more space. I tend not to write everything down now which means that I forget to do some things in time :/. Also a weird thing is that because it’s so small, I easily forget to look at it! I’m getting better at that now but in the first week it was ridiculous! Lol

      2. Thahaha, very funny that you forget to look at it! ๐Ÿ˜€ And yes, the compact size is great! But I know what you mean with having less space, but you know that is the thing with ringbound planners! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ At this moment I’m stepping a way from ringbound planners for a bit. Actually trying a traveler’s notebook now as my planner, even though the one I made is small, there’s so much more space to write! ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh by the way. When you want to write something down you definitely don’t want to forget, I use sticky notes! ๐Ÿ™‚ Fun to use, and easy to stick wherever! ^^ Maybe that’ll help with forgetting!

      3. Thanks for the tip! ๐Ÿ™‚ And good luck with the TN. I have one but I’m now trying to use it as a brain dump ( I guess in place of sticky notes). I’m very tempted to try planning in a midori but I have a feeling that it won’t work for me. I always hated the fact that I couldn’t move around pages in my school notebooks and such, which is why I think the ringed system will work better for me. However, I would like to turn my dori into a scrapbook of sorts. But perhaps I will try it for next year ๐Ÿ™‚

      4. I see! Yess, in that case a ring planner is probably better for you! ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes dori’s can be easily used as scrapbook! Great idea! ๐Ÿ˜€ Good luck with that! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      5. Also, I’m outside with kids and on the bike a lot (live in holland), and a lot of the times my ideas come when I’m biking! I think I may need to just record in my phone or something…then transfer into the planner.

      6. Originally from Ghana. I came here to study music and I’m now in my final year. My partner is Belgian (Flemish) so I really need to learn! I will take a course probably in September once I’m finished with school ๐Ÿ™‚

      7. Wow that’s so awesome! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I’m actually flemish! And a friend of my brother is studying music in Holland right now! Although he’s gonna change schools, and study it in Ghent next year! Such a small world! ๐Ÿ˜€ Good luck with studying music and learning dutch!
